What does a Performance Enhancement Specialist do?

You assess, program, and elevate performance on the field, in the gym, or back from injury. A PES spots movement flaws, builds smarter training plans, and pushes athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and coaches to reach peak strength, speed, and resilience. 

How long will I have access to the NASM PES program content and exam?

You will have one year from the day of registration to take your exam and five years of access to the course content. 

How many CEUs is the NASM PES program worth and which organizations accept them?

The NASM Performance Enhancement Specialization program is approved for Continuing Education Units (CEUs) by the following organizations:

  • NASM: 1.9 CEUs
  • AFAA: 1.9 CEUs
  • BOC: 30.75 CEUs 
Does the NASM PES credential expire?

No. Once you pass the exam, your Performance Enhancement Specialization with NASM will never expire.

Section 3: Assessments, Testing, and Monitoring

Focuses on evaluating athletes using assessments, movement analysis, and physiological testing. It uses data to track progress and refine training programs to match each athlete’s goals and needs. 

Section 4: Components of the Integrated Training Model

Covers all key training elements including flexibility, balance, core strength, plyometrics, speed, agility, resistance training, and energy systems. It aims to develop complete, high-performing athletes with improved power, stability, and recovery. 

Section 5: Program Design

Focuses on building structured training programs using periodization and biomotor development principles. It includes injury prevention, return-to-play strategies, and youth athlete development for long-term progress. 

Section 6: Nutrition and Supplementation

Explains how nutrition supports athletic performance, including macronutrients, hydration, and fueling strategies. It also covers supplementation and ergogenic aids to safely enhance strength, endurance, and recovery.
