Does the NASM PBC program have any prerequisites?

The NASM PBC program is an advanced specialization intended for fitness professionals, bodybuilding and physique competitors, and fitness enthusiasts. There are no official prerequisites, but it's recommended to have a fitness credential, such as being a Certified Personal Trainer, or a bachelor's degree in a related field. 

How long will I have access to the NASM PBC program content and exam?

You will have one year from the day of registration to take your exam.

How does the NASM PBC exam work?

The Physique and Bodybuilding Coach program exam is taken online inside your customer portal. You'll have 365 days from the date of purchase, to study and complete the exam. This exam features:

  • 100 multiple-choice questions
  • 90 minutes to complete
  • Open-book format
  • 70% required to pass
  • Three exam attempts included 
What if I don't pass the NASM PBC exam?

Don't worry! You'll have three attempts to pass the exam, and you can purchase additional retests. 

Does the NASM PBC specialization expire?

No. Once you pass the exam, your Physique and Bodybuilding Coach specialization with NASM will never expire.

In this chapter, you will learn the basics of physique enhancement, including its history, athlete categories, role in health and performance, psychological and social challenges, body image and eating behaviors, and how to distinguish evidence-based information from trends.

Chapter 3: Fundamentals of Anatomy, Physiology, and Biomechanics

In this chapter, you will learn the basics of anatomy, physiology, and human movement science, including how body systems work together and key biomechanics concepts that support proper exercise technique and physique development.

Chapter 4: Essentials of Metabolism, Energy Balance, and Fat Loss
